The Power of Pause: Why Rest is Part of the Hustle
Tuesday, July 01, 2025 | By: Jamie Goode Studios
Tonight, before I shut down the studio lights and close my laptop, I felt the need to share something real. Something that every dreamer, creative, and entrepreneur needs to hear:
Rest is not the enemy of success. It’s part of the process.
As a photographer, studio owner, editor, creative director, and a woman who wears more hats than a runway show, I know what it means to constantly be "on." There’s always another email to send, another session to edit, another campaign to launch. The hustle is real, and for many of us, it feels endless.
But tonight? I paused.
Not because everything was done. Not because I had nothing left on my list. But because I needed to.
And that pause didn’t feel like weakness. It felt like strength.
We live in a world that glorifies the grind. "No days off." "Sleep when you're dead." Sound familiar? It's easy to buy into that mindset, especially when you're building something big, something beautiful. But here’s the truth no one talks about enough:
You can’t pour from an empty cup.
Rest is what allows our creativity to recharge. Rest is what gives our mind space to wander, dream, and explore. Some of my best ideas come not from sitting in front of a screen, but from stepping away and letting silence speak.
So if you’re like me—trying to juggle it all, chasing your vision with everything you've got—I hope you remember this: slowing down doesn’t mean you’re giving up. It means you’re taking care of your instrument. Your body, your mind, your soul.
You are the magic. And even magic needs to rest.
Tonight, I choose peace. I choose softness. I choose to trust that my dreams will still be there tomorrow, and I’ll be more ready for them after some rest.
So let’s start a new kind of hustle—one that includes grace, sleep, and boundaries.
Tell me below: what are you letting go of tonight? How will you choose rest over pressure?
You deserve it.
With love and softness, Jamie
