Coffee, Cameras, and Confidence: A Saturday in the Studio
Saturday, January 31, 2026 | By: Jamie Goode Studios
If you think a photoshoot at Jamie Goode Studios is just standing in front of a white wall and smiling, think again. Saturdays at the studio are a choreographed dance of creativity, precision lighting, and a whole lot of high-energy music (usually some 80s rock ‘n’ roll to set the vibe).
Ever wonder what actually happens between that first sip of morning coffee and the final "That’s the shot!" moment? Here is your VIP pass behind the scenes.
11:00 AM: The Calm Before the Glow
The day starts early. Before the first client arrives, I’m in the studio with a large coffee, dialing in the tech. This is where 30 years of photography experience meets modern mastery. I’m checking the recycle times on my Godox strobes and ensuring my Neewer modifiers are positioned for that perfect "feathered" light we talked about earlier this week. Every shadow is intentional; every highlight is planned.
12:30 AM: The Transformation Begins
This is where the magic starts. Our clients often walk in feeling a mix of excitement and "camera nerves." They head straight to the chair of our resident master stylist, Meagan Brown.
While Meagan uses Farmasi products to create a camera-ready glow and perhaps adds some Hello Darling extensions for that "instant-luxury" volume, the atmosphere shifts. We aren't just changing hair and makeup; we are building a "Visual Handshake" that screams authority.
2:00 AM: Finding the Rhythm
Once the client steps onto the set, the "Science of the Glow" takes over. I don't just "take" pictures; I sculpt them. We play with angles, we adjust the "kicker" lights to make them pop off the background, and we hunt for those perfect 10 o'clock catchlights in the eyes.
There is a specific moment in every session—usually about twenty minutes in—where the client stops "posing" and starts owning the space. That is when the true confidence shows up.
3:30 PM: The "Messy Middle" and the Action
Between outfit changes, there’s a lot of laughter, quick lighting tweaks, and maybe a little air-drumming to some Def Leppard. We are looking for the action—the movement that makes a brand feel alive. I’m constantly checking the back of the camera to ensure our focal points are razor-sharp. As I’ve said before: if the eyes aren’t in focus, the story is lost. No "accidental lifestyle blurs" here—only intentional impact.
5:00 PM: The Final "Click"
The energy in the studio is at its peak. We’ve captured the headshots, the lifestyle branding, and the high-fashion glam. When I see that one frame where the lighting, the expression, and the soul of the brand perfectly align, I shout it out: "That’s the shot!"
Why the "Behind the Scenes" Matters
I’ve been in business since February 9th, 2006, and if there is one thing I’ve learned, it’s that the experience is just as important as the final image. When you come to Jamie Goode Studios, you aren't just getting a photo; you are getting 20 years of business expertise and a lifetime of looking through a viewfinder to find the very best version of you.
